 Advantages and Disadvantages of three phase transformer.

Advantages

1.Three phase transformer have considerable less weight and occupy less floor speed and cost less than three single phase transformers of equal rating.

Disadvantages

1.Three phase transformer has got one got coming. This short coming is that is one of the phase becomes defective, then whole of transformer is to be replaced, but in case of 3 single phase transformers.

2.If one of the transformers becomes defective the can still be run open.

3. Its reduced capacity or the defective transformer can be replaced by a single spare.

4.Less weight, less cost and less spaced is occupied by the three phase transformer weights is often used.
