Working Principle and construction of Auto Transformer?
The working principle and general construction of an auto transformer is same as that of conventional two windings transformer. the auto transformer differs from conventional two windings in the way primary and secondary are inter related in this primary and secondary windings are insulated from each other but they are magnetically linked by a common core.
In this transformer two windings primary and secondary are connected electrically and magnetically.
The auto transformer are two types in construction-
1. In one type construction there is a continuous winding with taps brought out a convenient point determined by the secondary voltage.
2.There are two or more coils which are connected electrically with a continuous winding the same law of conventional two winding transformer apply equally to auto transformer.
